Hip-Hop Saved My Life

Lupe Fiasco – Hip-Hop Saved My Life (Feat. Nikki Jean)

Tracks like “Paris, Tokyo” and “Superstar” had me avoiding Lupe’s music. But after giving his album, The Cool, a listen, I am glad to have found that he also does real music. There are a couple great tracks on the disc, including the one I posted above. Enjoy!

Jonas Brothers – Lovebug

Absolutely hate the JoBros, but I love Camilla Belle. That’s reason enough to post this video. Enjoy!

Sexy car. Sexy girl. Hell, you can’t deny that even Mr. Craig is a good-looking fellow.

I just cannot wait for this movie!

BoA debuts in America
September 10, 2008

BoA – Eat You Up [Preview]

Korean Japanese popstar, BoA, is attempting to break into the US music scene Akon-style (I can only assume that synthesizing her vocals is an attempt to mask her horrificly fobby English). And that blip of a song only serves as a harbinger for a disasterous career. In truth, she failed before she even begun.

Sidenote: Why does she keep insisting her name be spelled: Capital B-Lowercase O-Capital A? Maybe she and Bank of America can work out an endorsement.

Talib Kweli – Listen

“Talib Kweli (born Talib Kweli Greene, 1975) is a rapper from Brooklyn, New York. He is one of the most prominent rappers in underground hip-hop, and is critically acclaimed frequently, despite not being incredibly commercially successful. His name is Arabic, meaning ‘the seeker’ or ‘student of truth and knowledge’.” – Last.fm

“Hubba hubba” “Ooooh”
March 13, 2008

I had mixed feelings about the first trailer, but after seeing this one, I’m pretty excited. I know I’m not going to be watching it for the story. Think of it as The Fast and the Furious on drugs. I mean look at it! It looks like cars racing on a gigantic Hot Wheels track set in the middle of the Shinjuku district of Tokyo. I have no doubts that the visual quality of this film is going to be spectacular. Oh, and if you love James Bond’s tricked out rides, the Mach 5 will have ten times the gadgets.

It’s being done by the Wachowski brothers (V for Vendetta, Matrix trilogy) so I don’t expect it to be that bad. Actually, I kind of hope it’s going to be really good.

It’s slated for release on May 9th, 2008.

North American Stock Car Auto Racing
March 11, 2008

All these years, I’ve been putting NASCAR down because I thought it to just be a race set on a big oval.  But the truth is, I’ve been completely missing the point. NASCAR is obviously not about cornering, so then what is it about?

This clip is taken from this week’s episode of BBC’s Fifth Gear. Hearing about NASCAR from an outsider perspective rather than one from a fan probably was what helped me see the appeal of this motorsport. Which is that you just never know what’s going to happen.

This doesn’t mean I’m ever going to spend my day watching NASCAR on television. I just think it would be fun to attend a race someday.

I’ve included the second half of the segment after the break.

The Forbidden Kingdom
February 11, 2008

Okay, I’m just going to say that I think this film will be well… not so good. I am barely excited to see Jackie Chan brawl with Jet Li and that may just be it. I mean come on! How does a little caucasian boy get so lost as to find himself in China, with a number of English speaking warriors no less.

Regardless, I’ll probably go watch it anyways. I’m such a hypocrite.

[@ 1:20] I can’t say “accuracy” the way Li does. Okay, now I’m just being mean.

They’re called U-Min and they are absolutely amazing. They also happen to be in Missy Elliot’s latest music video with a whole new set of amazing tricks. Check them out!
