Wrightspeed X1

Okay, I posted about the new Ariel Atom last week and I’m going to talk about yet another variation. But this one is much more different than just a set of shocks. It’s got a whole new engine. The Wrightspeed X1 looks like an Atom, but it runs of a electric motor.

It’s still a prototype and its number are currently a bit under its petrol-consuming counterpart. But the electric motor does have its advantages, it produces a constant 182 lb-ft of torque regardless of whether you’re at 10 or 6,000 rpm and it will continue to rev up to an incredible 13,300 rpm. Unfortunately, you’ll run out of juice before a hundred miles, so you won’t be taking it across the country. Fortunately, it does have an onboard charger so you can replenish the battery supply if you can park next to an outlet.

Just because of fuel prices, I would so take this car over the standard model. Plus I find it cool that it’s being built and tested where I live, the Silicon Valley.

    You should look up the Youtube video the X1 hands Porche and Ferrari their own asses. Electric motors are the future, and X1 just proves it.

    Also, i’m a huge fan of your blog, i’m surprised you haven’t thrown down any info on the new STi.

    To be honest, I’m not a fan of the new Impreza WRX STi. The first and second generations were far better looking in my opinion. I’m sure the car is great performance-wise. No doubts to that. But I think Subaru made a grave mistake and the consumer war between EVOs and STi is over. At least until Subaru redesigns it.

    When I first viewed the video of the X1 raceing the three big guns in fossile fuel I just laughted and laughed. When you jumped aboard with no more than walking gear I could hardly believe my eyes.

    WHY HAVE YOU NOT CONSIDERED SUPER CAPACITORS AND SUPERCONDUCTORS TO FURTHER DESTROY ANY FOSSIL FUEL CAR THAT WOULD EVEN CONSIDER CHALLENGING THE WORLD’S BEST THOUGHT OUT IT SOLUTION TO ELECTRIC CARS. I NOTE THAT YOUR CONTRIBUTION AT TESLA HAS HELPED ADVANCE THEIR COURSE AND MAY BE SOMEWHERE ON A PATH TO MANUFACTURE IN THE NEXT THREE TO FOUR YEARS.

    COULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHY THE USE OF REGENERATIVE ALTERNATORS ON BOARD YOUR CAR HAS ANY DETRIMENTAL MECHANICAL DRAG LIMITATIONS, ESPECIALLY IF THE REGENERATIVE POWER IN THE ALTERNATORS FEEDS SUPERCAPACITORS OR BACK INTO THE BATTERIES?

    OUR TESTS INDICATE THAT THE MECHANICAL RESISTANCE AT THE VERY FRONT OF SOME VEHICLE CONFIGURATIONS DO NOT INCREASE WIND DRAG. YOU CAN INDEED CREATE SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING.

    ALSO THE USE OF PET RECYCLED PLASTIC PRODUCTS HAS INDICATED PROMISING RESULTS AND FURTHER TESTING INDICATES THAT WIND DRAG OVER THE CAR CREATES STATIC ELECTRICITY AND A SERIES OF STATIC HARNESSES AT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE COLLECTS A SLOW CHARGE AND CAN BE FED BACK INTO THE BATTERY.
