Google has redefined online map/directions over and over and they won’t cease. Streetview is cool and all but its coverage is still so limited that it won’t be helpful until they photograph every yard of America’s big cities and its surrounding suburbs.
Also in the works right now is Google Transit. A concept long past due. Instead of driving directions, it will provide you will scheduled trips for getting on the bus, lightrail, trolley and where to jump off of one and onto another. Like Streetview, it’s still not complete. So far, it’s available in select cities in the United States and all of Japan.
