Nd Fr SpD

speed-per-dollar-index.jpg

Winding Road, an automotive magazine, has created a formula for something they call SpD or Speed per Dollar.

Of course, this is just another way of saying ‘bang for your buck’.

The formula is:

(Horsepower / Weight) x 10,000 / Price x 100,000 = SpD

It’s quite nice to see the Mazdaspeed3 place so high with an SpD of 3476. Whereas my own Mazda3s has an approximate SpD of 2855. Not bad, right?

  2. huh. why didn’t they just do horsepower/weight/price*10

  3. i’m surprised the ccx is towards the bottom.

  4. AC, your simplification doesn’t work. Well, it does, but you’ll end up with a nasty decimal.
The proper way to do it is (HP/LB)/$ x 1,000,000,000. I think. I’m no math whiz.

Qwertyuiop, I think the CCX’s $700,000 price tag is to blame.
